POSITION OVERVIEW – Payroll Specialist

Lifeworks is seeking a Payroll Specialist to process payroll for a group of approximately 1000 employees. The Payroll Specialist will work in Richfield/Hybrid Schedule with 20% being in person.

Position Title: Payroll Specialist

Department: Finance-Payroll

Hours: Full-Time; 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday Non-Exempt

Location: Lifeworks Services – Hybrid Richfield MN/ 20% in-person

Compensation: $21-$23/Hr

How you’ll be spending your time:

  • Process payroll for all employee pay groups.
  • Calculate withholding taxes.
  • Reconcile payroll transaction for all payroll groups.
  • Set up and maintain employee payroll profile information, including deductions.
  • Work across departments as a team member to achieve consistency, reliability, and best business practices for various issues.
  • Assist with benefit deductions and enrollment.
  • Respond to requests for verification of employment.
  • Provide top level customer service for all payroll-related inquiries.
  • Continue education regarding payroll laws to ensure agency compliance.
  • Follow safety procedures and assist in identifying safety needs for self and others. Perform other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree in finance or related field with a minimum of 3 years of payroll and payroll taxes experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience equal to 5 years.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple job tasks, prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
  • Proficient in 10-key ability.
  • Must pass a background study with the State of Minnesota and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Have reliable transportation to use for work driving purposes.

Preferred:

  • Understanding of financial databases. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics SL.
  • FPC/CPP Certification.
