New Partnerships with the Brooklyn Park Day Support Program

Last year, Lifeworks decided not to renew the lease on the current Brooklyn Park facility and lean into our value of “You Lead the Way – We Listen” by embracing a community-based model for our Day Support program in our North Region.

Eighty-four percent of our current customers shared with us that they most enjoy community activities – everything from volunteering to visiting libraries, parks, and community centers. Not renewing our lease for the Brooklyn Park facility is an opportunity to look ahead to the future and continue expanding our day services out into the community.

Lifeworks intends to expand our community-based offerings across the state, forging partnerships with businesses and community centers to serve as touchdown sites or “hubs” for folks to gather between accessing their communities. This community-based model responds to what people with disabilities are asking of Lifeworks, and we aim to drive change together to create opportunity and access for all.

With the current facility’s lease ending in March, we are excited to announce two new partnerships in the Brooklyn Park community that will help us live into community-based activities even more.

Lifeworks will be sharing space with the Brooklyn Park Community Center and the Brooklyn Park location of Midwest Special Services (MSS) to embrace our community model fully. These partnerships will create a more dynamic program for our clients that emphasizes individualized support and minimizes their time in transit to and from activities.

Both the Brooklyn Park Community Center and MSS locations are near where current customers live and offer critical access to fully accessible restrooms. These locations will primarily serve as hubs for clients before their community activities, with the ability to use space and amenities in both as needed.

Our partnerships with the Brooklyn Park Community Center and MSS will start March 6.

Our community can continue to connect with us via our website: lifeworks.org, phone: 651-454-2732, and email: contact@lifeworks.org.

We are excited about these new collaborations and look forward to sharing updates as we get settled at both locations!
