Happy International Women’s Day from all of us at Lifeworks!
International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th in recognition of women’s achievement, to raise awareness of discrimination, and to inspire action to drive gender parity. This year’s theme is “Embrace Equity”, with the aim of educating folks on why equity, and not just equality, truly addresses the systemic discrimination and barriers that women face around the world.
We envision a world that is truly diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Women with disabilities, especially folks that also identify as a person of color, face compounding barriers that need to be addressed through the lens of equity. Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances and calls on us to address each person individually in order to allocate resources and advance opportunities for everyone to be successful. We call on our community to join us in celebrating the women we partner with and to center the voices and experiences of women with disabilities so that we can create an equitable future.
