Laura Quist-Knox: Exploring the Possibilities

In the two years since Laura has been with Lifeworks, she has grown in leaps and bounds. She smiles constantly and is always up for a challenge. For weeks, Laura, with the help of Craig Birttnen worked on a PowerPoint presentation for the Lifeworks’ Leadership Luncheon. Through her Dynavox voice computer that she controls with a knee switch, she wrote the text and chose the pictures for her presentation. She also uses her device to help her email her family and write poetry. This technology has given her a lot more control of her communication needs and she says that people listen to her more and respect what she has to say.

Laura also began exploring visual arts last year at Eagan Art House. She worked with an instructor who helped her explore painting, printmaking, drawing and textile art. Her work shows a variety of color and reveals her personality. One of her paintings was recently chosen to be part of Lifeworks’ 2006 Traveling Art Show, which includes a select number of works that exhibit at area businesses, including Stanton Group, Ameriprise Financial, Securian, St. Paul Travelers and Ecolab. She is also a member of the Women’s Reading Group at Mendota Heights and she enjoys the weekly discussions and books they cover.

Lifeworks welcomes requests for accommodations such as an interpreter or information in an alternate format. All of our facilities are physically accessible.
